I have a stand up cuddly bear pan, and would really like to use a more flavourful cake recipe (rather than just the boring "yellow cake" directions - that came with the pan) . . . does anyone have any suggestions?? This is for my (soon to be) four year old son's birthday party, so I'm looking for a yummy recipe that he may like. (fruity??)

For the bear cake, I always use dh mixes and follow the instructions on the SIDE of the box to make it a pound cake. There is one for the chocolate and one for the yellow.

Frankly, I wouldn't use anything else because of gravity. If you don't use a nice, dense cake, you end up with a bear who has no head or broken legs.

Also, I always overfill this pan. I use about 1.5 mixes when I bake it and put it on a parchment lined cookie sheet to catch any drippings. Nothing worse than a 3d pan not filling out all the way.

HTH!

I always use one DH yellow mix combined with one BC pound cake mix. It makes the cake more flavorful and also sturdier, and it is the perfect amount of batter for the 3D bear pan.

I would definately use the yellow pound cake. Maybe you can make some fruity flavored icing to decorate it with though??? Or you could maybe mix some of those small colored sprinkles in with your pound cake batter to make it colorful.

I do the same thing as Kitagrl. One pound cake and one yellow cake.
