Im so happy, I finally finished my dog in a mug cake, my friend love, I had a hard time with the mmf on the "mug" b/c she wanted buttercream and fondant, so I covered the cake with bc (regular amount; more than just crum coat) and then the mmf. but they dont even noticed the dreases and bumps, We celebated her bday in a restaurant and 5 people (extrangers) came to the table to ask me for bussines cards....I dont have any, I just had make cakes for friends and family but gave them my phone munber anyway. I was wanted to share....by the way thanks to mamafrogcakes, liis and waterfallsoygurl for all their help, many many thanks! (there's another view of the cake in my pics)
That turned out so great!!! You can tell that you really put a lot of hard work into it...it's absolutely adorable!
Thanks a lot for all your nice comment, now that im looking at the pic. I dont like how the dog does not have a neck, so next time I will rise the head a bit more out of the cup. and I still thinking that she have a beggin face, kind of sad...

Oh...it's so cute...and re: the neck thing....people are probably going to view it from the top anyway....I think it looks great!
What an absolutely ADORABLE cake. I don't mean to sound stupid...but, what is mmf? I've been doing cakes since 1984 but I've never used fondant. I just stumbled upon this fantastic website this past week!! I use the little mice carrying the cake on my business cards! Keep up the GREAT work.
That is incredible! Awesome! I cannot get over this cake. Would love to know how you did it.......... I'm not surprised that people asked you for your card, you are going to have to have some made up, and then, girl, you charge a bundle for your work! It is worth it! I am totally blown away by this.
Oh wow!!! You did a great job!!!! I didn't really help much, LOOK, you did all the work! And it looks great!!!! WOOHOO!!!!
instructions please - or can you send a cake to australia?!?!?! i never noticed the "no neck thing" it makes the dog look even more cuter and smaller so that it could fit in the mug. if it had a longer neck it would make the dog look too big and it would unbalance the cake. these are only my opions cause i luv it the way it is!!!
I think that this cake is so adorable. I have got to try it out. My sister has a Yorkie and she would love to get on like this for her birthday!! You did a fantastic job on this!! You have inspired me to be more daring with decorating. I have just been plain jane-ing it for so long. I have to get back on the horse! Thanks for the inspiration!!

Adorable! I have a little yorkie and a maltese and I may just have to try making some little doggies. Cute!!!!
Hi! Thanks for all your nice comments, it really means a lot to me, I love this site because all the wonderful things I had learned (more than my classes) and the people is very caring and nice. I always recommend this site to every person that I know how like cake decorating.
I did the head a week in advance, with a Styrofoam ball making a little dent to shape a nose and covered in fondant, then apply chunks of fondant to resemble the chicks and hair etc. making eyebrows? Jowls? I add eyes, nose and a little tongue. The just start scoring on the direction you want the hair to look like. And attach the ears. When the head was dry (24 hrs. for me) I paint with black diluted with water (to make shadows) and luster dust for the ribbon, nose and eyes. Also made the handle of the cup using fondant and gumtex and put it to dry on top of a bottle of water on the side, just to get the round shape.
The cakes are easy part, I baked 4 individual 6 cakes, took 2 and filled and frosted whit butter cream in separate 6 cardboards, the stack them using dowels ( 5 button cake and 5 on top cake and a big one thru everything) then rolled the mmf and cover the whole thing.
Place a black covered cardboard on top place the paws and head attaching with butter cream and place ribbon and paper hearths to cover imperfections and boo boos. The cake was very stable, maybe I use too many dowels??? Next time I will write something on the mug, but my piping letters skill need a lot (A LOT) of work, and I did not want to riun the cake at the very end.
OMG! tHAT WAS VERY LONG...sorry hope It helps, I dont know how to explain things but did my best trying to share...

WOW! That is adorable!! It looks so much like the pic you posted of the little figure you were hoping to mimic. Great job. Thank you for the instructions! I, too, have a good friend who has 3 Yorkie 'children'. Her b-day is in March, so I know what I'll be doing!
