well, first, i iced the whole cake 13x18 with whimsical bakehouse icing that was tinted in buttercup yellow. the icing doesnt crust so i let it sit in the fridge overnight and it got hard (it didnt CRUST, but it was hard) so i took the picture of the bottle and the glasses and did a gel transfer and then outlined in black and filled in the colours, just smoothing with a brush dipped in icing sugar as i went along. the border was done to look like it was a portrait, so i used a flat tip...it's also used to make some ruffles and BC carnations...(in the wash right now, dont have the #) and the grapes were done using tip 3...the leaves were tip 67 (i wish i had that other tip to make leaves, but i dont...yet) and the vines were tip 2...i think i pretty much explained it...
i have to say i thought it would take a lot longer to make, but it wasnt so difficult!
Your buttercream looks so smooth and shiny. I will have to try the WB recipe. Any good smoothing tips?
That cake is a work of art, very cool cake kiddo! Love the grapes and vine detail along the sides too, a little detail that just finishes it off so nicely! Your wine bottle and glasses look great.

Squirrely...THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!
smashcakes..whimsical bakehouse icing is buttercream that is really light and fluffy, kind of like whip cream consistency...but i like it b/c once you get it smooth, if you put it in the fridge for a bit it gets hard and it's really easy to decorate on top of...it doesnt crust at all though, just gets hard (like when butter gets hard in the fridge)
MommyEdzards...i smoothed with a spatula dipped in HOT HOT HOT water
I have to say that is a great looking cake. I agree with Squirelly the grape vines are a wonderful touch on the sides of the cake. Great Job
Very nicely done! The vines and grapes on the sides made it really 'pop' for me! Good work!
