i'm just wondering what everyone does for boxes for 3d cakes. the deepest cake box at michaels, etc, is 4 inches. are there web sites for ordering deep boxes and are they reasonably priced?
smash, I was wondering the same thing. Just where does one get boxes for cakes? I personally think, in my opinion that it looks unprofessional to the customer if the cake is in some kind of taped up cardboard box you got at the grocer or something, but hey, you make due with what you have I reckon. LOL
I always have a problem with 3-d cakes and taking them where they need to go, too! The last time (my panda cake), I found a good solution.
Instead of a cake box, I went to my local UPS store and bought a deep empty box. then, I used an exacto knife to cut the "top flaps" deeper (does that make sense?) so that the box was the right height. I trimmed the flaps so they weren't super-long and then I was able to put the cake in from the top. It was a little more expensive (about $4.00 for the box) but it worked out really well and the cake was protected on all sides.
hope that helps!
thanks, i never would have thought of places like that(uhaul and ups), i think i have a uhaul store right near me
The Post Office usually has great boxes for sale too. I buy ones here that are 12" x 12" x 6" tall.
