Finally I got a picture taken of the real working waterfall I have been working on. This is a cake dummy for a bridal show I am doing next weekend. I still have a few more seashells to add but other than that I am done with this one. This was the second "waterfall" we made and have learned enough to now feel comfortable doing the real thing. The actual wedding is not until June and that cake will have a completely different look. I will posts pictures of that one later, but I wanted to go ahead and share this one. I am also trying to get a link of the video we took of the waterfall in action so I will post that when I get it. Thanks!

As far as design...my step-dad helped bring my vision to reality. The actual "waterfall" is made from acrylic, there is a hose coming out of the bowl into the pump and up through a hose to the top of the waterfall. (The hoses are not inside the cake) I did not want the hoses running throught the cake. On the back I cut out a notch where the hose runs up the back. On the cake dummy, I just put the top tier on top of the hose (also in a notch), but on the actual cake I will use a cake plate to cover the hose and the top tier will be elevated. I put some cheap plastic I found in the craft department at Wal-Mart on the botton of the acrylic to help force the water down into the bowl and not the cake. As far as water getting on the cake, we made the sides of the acrylic pretty high to help eliminate this problem. There is a minor splashing problem in front of the bowl when the water from the waterfall hits the water in the bowl, but it is very minimal. As far as the stand, in this picture I just have the cake dummy sitting on two styrofoam dummies under a sheet for picture purposes to elevate it above the bowl. For the real cake my step-dad has a made a box for the cake to sit on and which will also house the pump and hoses. I think that is about it, sorry to keep rambling. Sorry, I don't have anything drawn up, we kind of just did trial and error. The acrylic is stair-stepped and I just decided I wanted the first stair to sit back in the middle cake about an inch and then the rest just resulted from that. The cake will actually be cut like the stairsteps also to allow for the acrylic to sit on and on the cake. This is the part that my step-dad did for me, I just told him what I wanted and he went from there.
