I just had to let everyone know this with all of the questions about "Who makes your birthday cake?".

There are 10 girls in my office. On birthdays - the office picks up the lunch tab and someone buys or I make a cake for the birthday girl. Well, I came in today and there was a strawberry cake sitting there made by one of the girls that has never made a cake before. She said "We couldn't get a store bought cake for the cake maker!" I was flattered! The next girl to come in had a cake with her too! A carrot cake! We ended up eating the carrot cake for breakfast and we're having the strawberry cake for dessert after lunch. I feel so special!

I too, usally do the cakes for the office b-day celebration. We do 1 monthly celebration for everyone who has a b-day that month. There are quite a few people in my office, probably around 40, but there are only about 3 of us that take care of the b-day celebration. My function is making the cakes/pies/dessert. The other two figure out who has a b-day on what day and which is the best day to celebrate (usually somewhere in the middle). When my b-day rolls around, one of the other two ladies does something. One of the girls makes a "Better than ___" cake which is delicious. Sometimes it's a store-bought cake. There are a couple of bakeries close by so if it's bought, then it's usually from there.

That was nice of your co-workers to do something so special for your b-day. And what better way to celebrate your b-day than to have cake for breakfast! icon_biggrin.gif

It was my birthday yesterday and my husband took a half day and baked a cake for me with my 2 year old. Funfetti mix with chocolate icing between the 2 cakes, iced in white icing with pink spray icing flowers and squiggles. Topped with the "funfetti" sprinkles. We were all so proud. At least someone remembered my birthday and made ME a cake. icon_biggrin.gif

Happy Birthday to both of you!

thecakemaker, as I was reading I thought it was heading in the direction of each person that walked in that day had you a special birthday cake fresh from the oven! My imagination running wild here!! That would be really neat, wouldn't it? Hmmm, how can I hint around to all my friends for my birthday in March? Hmmm....guess it wouldn't be quite so special if I told them to do that!!

That was a very special birthday treat.

Not each of them - but two of them. No one has ever done that before!
