I was asked to make a swimming pool cake with swimmers and the flags, ropes and everithing. I don't know how to put it all together. Do you have any ideas? or pictures you can share. What color to use for the water. It has to be an olympic swimming pool.... thanks....

Here is one I did, not quite what you want but it may give you a few ideas. I used blue tinted piping gel for the water, but have also see where you can use the blue jello (though then it has to be kept in the fridge).

I'd think you could pipe the ropes. Maybe use fondant for the swimmers?

Is the tile chicklets gum or fondant? Are those the grahamcracker bears? That is such a great idea! This is why I love this site!

Yep the chicklets gum and the Teddy Graham Bears. Different candies used to accent it. I got the idea from a cake I saw in a Woman's Day Magizine. Theirs was a round cake, but I wanted to do a sheet cake instead. icon_smile.gif

I piped a long bead or strip of fairly stiff buttercream vertically and then using a writing tip, can't remember which size, maybe a 4 or 5 type of tip, just piped horizontal lines over it. You can't see it well in this picture, but I iced the top of the cake in white and market off tiles using a ruler, then very slightly tinted the piping gel blue and you could still see the tiles through the gel.
Hugs Squirrelly
Edited to change tip used from weave to writing tip, sorry, had to think about which one.

Squirrelly, that pool cake looks awesome!

I never did this, but thought long and hard about it for my future BIL's birthday party that never happened (he's a triathlete.) I'm not super at doing people yet, so my idea for swimmers was to just make different colored half-spheres for the swimmers' heads since their faces are in the water most of the time, a few flesh-toned arms (no hands required, and all you really need for the feet end is some white icing that looks a bit like foam where the kicking goes on. If you're better at faces than I am, you can have some of the swimmers' heads turned to the side.

Can't wait to see the finished product!
