Wilton Ready Icing - Aaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuugggggghhhhhh
Decorating By alicegop Updated 3 Mar 2007 , 10:23pm by mgdqueen
It is soooo stiff even my husband can't squeeze this C*** out!!!!!!!!!
I'm suppose to make a lady bug cake so I bought black and red......... but these tubes are holding onto the icing like it is gold. What is the frickin point of having icing in a tube and making it so dang stiff?!
Anyone have any suggestions?
I cut off the end and then squeeze it into a disposable bag with a tip, always works for me.
That's what I do too. I don't use it right out of the tube b/c of the problem that you are having. Then if I need to thin it a little like to write with or whatever I just add a little water at a time until it reaches the consistency I need. Mostly buy them in the tubes just to get the color unless I need a lot of it. Good luck and hope this helps!!
WhenI have to use this I put the tubes under my seat. Yea I sit on them to warm them up. And they are easier to use. No clean up except the tips that I use with them. They can warm up so much that it pours out really thin.
I was thinking of putting them in front of my heater... sitting on them isn't a bad idea either.
Thanks for the ideas! I was ready to cry
I was shocked when I read your post. I usually find those tubes too thin. But, yes sqeezing it out and using it in a regular bag is what I do when the consistency isn't right.
I think it was cold in my house and that was the problem. I accidentally left the red tube on my desk which is about 1.5 feet from the wall heater and so this morning the red was nice and soft, almost too soft. The black which I left in the kitchen benefited from a little water and being put in a new bowl. So in the end this worked out for me.
I put mine in the microwave for a few seconds to warm it up first. Works great otherwise it is like cement in the tubes.
