Do any of you wonderfully creative people have something I can put on my calling card other than cake decorator?

Thanks in advance for any and all ideas!!!

Not sure what you mean by calling card, but if means something like a business card.. here is what I think.

Edible Art? I feel that we put alot of thinking into our cakes just as an artist would to his/her painting.. icon_biggrin.gif

Sorry, I should clarify, I was looking into order business cards and the catalog also calls them calling cards. Thanks for the idea briansbaker! I appreciate the quick response!!

You should probably come up with a name for yourself that identifies you as a cake decorator rather than just your name with Cake Decorator written under it.

Sometimes I think about starting up a business or web page. If I did I would call it Occasionally Cake. Under that I would write Cakes for All Occasions. I can just see it www.occasionallycake.com (sigh). I wonder if that names taken.

If I had a business card, I'd have a cool logo, a nice border, the name I call my business, a slogan and the phone number where I could be reached (most likely a cell #). I don't think it's a good idea to put your home address on business cards.

So...what do you think you'd like to call yourself?

edit note: I spelled occasionally wrong icon_redface.gif. I'm not off to a very good start am I icon_smile.gif

If you don't have a business name yet.. I would do a search on Edible Art or any other name you choose to use..and be careful how you word it. I found this for edible art www.edibleartbakery.com
You don't want to use a name already taken.. just a thought!! I have another idea..
Your name , an artist for your sweet tooth! Maybe lisa or mouse can help you find a picture to use on the card. Maybe a cake framed in a fancy picture frame..?????

I have a friend that used "Notably Edible" for her business name...thought that was creative.

I would think of things that relate to your designs or your specialties. Be careful not to represent something you're not. I haven't done a one wedding cake...so I know not to advertise that...I'd be game to try, but only if it was fun. Good luck! icon_smile.gif

Hi Briansbaker!

mine did not turn out icon_cry.gif The butt came out nice but then head and shoulders just crumbled. icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif It looked like the poor lamb had a tragic accident. All the buttercream in the world could not save him. BUT! I, instead, made a double 8" layer cake and put a yellow basketweave around the side and a rope border around the top. Then I put green dyed coconut and sprinkled that on top with some wrapped Easter candy. Everybody at the party asked me where I bought it. thumbs_up.gif I will post pics as soon as I get the film developed!

WOW!!!

Thanks for all of the great suggestions!! They are all good, but Joe I think I am going to go with your "Confectionary Artist". I really like the sound of that! Again, thanks to everyone for taking the time to respond to my question. I wish I had the time to sit and read posts all day!! It is addicting!! When I first started on this sight a couple of months ago, I would wake up in the night thinking cakes!! I was baking building and decorating in the middle of the night!!

Thanks everyone!!

Joe & Dragonworld...sounds like you two were doing something of a Humpty Dumpty cake, those nursery rhymes were awfully tragic if I recall!

I am first a woodworker and have my shop in a 150 yr old barn here at home. If I get a tax # I'll have to name my business. I may use
"Wood n Cakes" in there somehow to take in both interests. I have no clue about any graphics on it yet. But on of these days... Since I was home sick all week I've spent more time here reading. So I finally get well and head for Wal Mart and but up 6 more cake mixes cause they're now priced at 84 cents. AND I had room to store them all away too! Yeah! Guess I'm on the roll again. Doing two wedding cakes a week apart in Oct killed my interest in doing cakes for a few months but guess I'm back. I may have to go out looking for a customer, LOL. No really I have several lined up in the next couple months. With my other interests that's enough.

I always imagined mine as : My Favorite Desserts ...although someone in another state already has taken that name/domain name!

I noticed "my" domain name wasn't taken thumbs_up.gif . I guess I better jump on it if I really want it. Just don't think I'm ready for a website yet...at least not one you have to pay for. I could just register the name to save it if I decide to use it later.
