OK, I need your expertise. I made a Hello Kitty cake (I'll try to attach it to the message, but if not, it's the most recent one in my gallery). I did it with a BCT, which, honestly, turned out great. Here's the problem. Hello Kitty has whiskers. I made them from black icing that I put on after the bct was applied, but it didn't look great. Because it was a bct, it was about 1/4" higher than the cake icing, so when the whiskers left HK's face and extended out, they drooped and I just wasn't totally happy.
I should mention that it's a little hard to see in this picture because I took the picture from directly above so it didn't look so bad. But if you look, you'll see what I mean.
How would you have done them? Royal? That's the only thing I thought of afterwards.
Thanks Everyone!
String Licorice works well, also if you want them to stand more pipe icing over thin spagetti. Slide your spagetti into tip 3 and as you pull it out pipe the icing onto the spagetti. This can be used even if you want it to stand straight up.
I painted on spaghetti to use as support for letters on my elmo cake (see my photos). You could just paint some spaghetti or pasta to use as the whiskers.
I use spaghetti or black shoestring licorice too, but I have trouble finding black shoestring licorice. Where do you have the best luck finding it.
