Every time I try to make a pastry cream, no matter what recipe I use, it always tastes too starchy to me. And I hate the texture as well, it's so pasty and thick. Does anyone have a recipe for a smooth custard, like the texture of pudding from a box but with much better taste? Thanks. thumbs_up.gificon_biggrin.gif

The Almond Custard recipe found on this website is really good. I thought it came out very smooth and it was easy. The flavoring is added at the end so you could make it any flavor you wanted too. Also for me, when I'm in a pinch for time, I just use the vanilla flavored cool whip (out of the tub) and add liquid or coffee creamer (any flavor or regular) to it. It is delicious and the texture of pudding. Be careful though not to put too much creamer or it will be too runny. Hope that helps!
