OK, I have decided on a theme for a baby shower I am hosting at the end of Feb, they live on a farm so I am going to make a baby farm animal cake, I'm going to paint box's to look like barns and put cookies for a center piece. We will have cows, sheep (1 black) pigs, ducks, pony, chickens. Where can I get these cookie cutters and if anyone else has any other great ideas, I would love to hear them, since I am doing everything for shower, I really want to get some business back out of the deal. Thank you.

Wilton has a cookie cutter set with 50 animal cutters, I saw it at Hobby Lobby for less than $10 last week.

I saw some really super cute animals on eBay (the link was posted by someone else for someone else looking for cookie cutters a while ago). If you do an eBay search, there are quite a few shops that sell cookie cutters.

A couple of suggestions...I would do the big cookies, at least 4in cookies, 6in would be better. Then you can add tons of details to each cookie but not need as many cookies. I think that makes a much bigger impact. If you are going to wrap them, use something really neutral, like plain cellophane and only a very minimal ribbon, so that the highly decorated cookies take center stage. Same goes for the barn, don't put too much detailing into the painted barns, or it will detract from the cookies.

To tie in to the cookie centerpieces you could do a really simple fondant stacked cake with the decorated cookies as the cake decorations.

Are you doing the other food and decorations too, or just the sweets?

There is a cake by ribbitfroggie posted in the gallery that I saw a while back and put it in my favorites. Its so cute. You can also do a search in the gallery for farm animals or baby animals. I get so many ideas from pictures on here.

Since you have until February why not try using fondant/gumpast to mold the animals. Its just like playdoh' and I believe you can even find the animal molds with the play doh' accessories. I love molding figures. I just did penguins for a holiday cake and it makes a big impact. if you have any questions feel free to contact me. Good luck!

If you go to http://www.sugarcraft.com and search for animal push molds they have some. They are 2D and 3D it looks like. You can also look for polymer clay molds if you want more of a character look to your animals.

What about buying some maripan or fondant animals premade. Where can you get them?
