I want to make a Chocolate Chip cake using boxed yellow cake mix. Also, I don't know what kinda filling would go with it. I just whipped a little Pastry Pride w/ dry vanilla pudding & mini choco chips...It tasted pretty good... I might use that if I can't find anything else.

Cake Mix Doctor book to the rescue!

Stacy's Chocolate Chip Cake

1 bar (4oz) German Chocolate
1 pkg plain yellow cake mix
1 pkg (3.4oz) vanilla instant pudding
1 cup whole milk
1 cup vegetable oil
4 large eggs
1 pkg (6oz/1 cup) semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 325 degrees, prepare pan(s). Grate the German chocolate with food processor or hand grater until finely grated. Set grated chocolate aside.

Place cake mix, pudding mix, milk, oil and eggs in large mixing bowl. Blend with an electric mixer on low speed for 1 minute. Fold in grated chocolate, scrape down sides of bowl. Increase mixer speed to medium, beat another 2 minutes, scraping down the sides as needed. Fold in the chocolate chips. The batter should look well blended, and the chocolate chips should be evenly distributed. Pour batter into prepared pan(s), smoothing it out with a rubber spatula.

Bake the cake(s) until golden brown and springs back when lightly pressed with your finger, 58 to 60 minutes for a tube pan (50 to 52 minutes for loaf pans). Cool in pan on a wire rack for 20 minutes. Run a knife around the edge of the cake and invert onto cooling rack. Allow to cool completely.

This recipe calls for a tube/loaf pan in the book. Could probably be made in a 9x13" pan, but I would recommend using flower nails as heat conductors to make sure it bakes evenly! HTH!
