Basic Cake Batter Recipe?

I would like to start making my cakes from scratch. However, I have never done so... What I would like is a basic recipe that can be altered, ie. different flavors. Anyone have a recipe to share?

Hi Kat,

I love a good Butter Cake. There are so many recipes out there you just have to find what is best for you since everyone's tastes vary.
