Hi, I saw some cute little mice that were posted in the gallery...does anyone know what is holding the kiss and the choc. covered cherry together? Dale posted the ones I saw, but I'm new to this site and I don't know how to ask him directly...so Dale if your out there, I need you..
Thanks,
jenny

I think it is the same or very similar to the ones Dale made. If not then go ahead and PM Dale, I am sure he will give you any help you need.
Have fun!
Tonia, Thank you..these look really close to what I saw. I thought the chocolate covered cherries were the ones that were already dipped, but I guess I can cover some like they said.
Thanks again,
Jenny
Hi Jenny,
I just made some of these last week too, and I can tell you that the ones that Dale posted were done the same way as the directions that Tonia posted. The melted chocolate is what holds everything together. Make a lot- everyone loves these little guys!!
Your welcome Jenny. I haven't tried these but they sure do look cute.
I don't think I have ever seen already covered cherries with the stems still on them. And like momsandraven pointed out, you need the chocolate to hold the mice together.
Good luck and be sure to post those little cuties!!
I just made some of these this last weekend. They are the cutest little critters!
I found Cordial Cherry filled Hershey's kisses. (Limited Edition) They are delicious and a great compliment to the chocolate dipped cherries.
I can't get over how cute they were!
A day late on replying to this one huh? I missed it. Here is the recipe that I posted in a contest that I entered em into.

X-Mice by DALE
16 oz. bag semi-sweet chocolate 1 teaspoon vegetable shortening Oreo double stuff cookies Slivered almonds Red and green piping gel Maraschino cherries with stems Hershey kisses (Do not use real mice in this recipe. They won't hold still to properly set up and the taste is much too gamey.)
Twist the Oreos apart. Save the side with the cream on it. Melt the chocolate with the shortening. heat until melted enough for dipping. Dip the cherries into the melted chocolate and set onto the cookie. this will be the body. Put a kiss on the cherry. this will be the head. Put another kiss on your spouse. If you are not married, grab whomever is close to you. Do not kiss the dog. That's just nasty.
For the ears, take two almond slivers and position them between the kiss and the cherry. Take green piping gel and make holly leaves. Yeah, I know, you are not an artist, but hey, it's $.99 piping gel from the supermarket, just go with it. Take the red gel and pipe out berries for the holly. Use red piping gel for the eyes.
Hi Dale,
Glad to have you on...you've been missed big time
Congratulations on your big win...don't use real mice, to funnnny
Dale, this is just adorable. I am going to hold on to your idea and use it for next year! Thank You in advance for all of the fun I have to look forward to!
Dale - I have to thank you too, the mice were a HUGE hit with every dessert tray I delivered this Christmas! Everyone just adored them!!
And a big congrats er congmice to you Dale for most original entry haha, not only were the mice original but the method, well, it was most Dale-ish, haha! You do have such a way with words! Great idea!
Hugs Squirrelly
Can anyone tell me if these need to be refridgerated? I was thinking no because most choc. covered cherries aren't but the jar says refridgerate after opening.
my experience is:
if made day of party...they have life span of party. (now I know I brought a plate full...where'd they all run off to???)
Thanks Doug! I was hoping to put these on some Christmas platters I am making and wanted to do them in advance. I guess it is off to the fridge for them.
These are too cute! Does anyone have a suggestion for a substitute for the ears? My stepson is allergic to nuts but he just loves oreos.
Here is a pic of the ones I did (following Dale's instrucions) except I did mine on the white chocolate dipped oreos and instead of usuing gels I used buttercream for the eyes, nose, and holly.
I want to make these, and I have all the ingredients. BUT I CAN'T TWIST THE OREOS APART!!!
How do you get the little buggers apart and keep all the cream on one side?!? I've twisted, pulled, sworn at the darn things! Would using a knife make the cream look weird?
...help..
It is trial and error unfortunately. I liked using either the whole oreo or the white chocolate dipped ones instead. Makes a nice presentation.
I would use the whole cookie!! darn it...a cookie without the sugary white goo? what good is it except to make cheesecake crusts with? lol
also..you can make the ears out of rice paper if you have it..
or ..you can cut a candy melt in 1/2 or 1/4? and shove it onto with kiss with a little melted chocolate..
or just dab a little chocolate and pretend they were in a Sleighing accident with Santa and the Snowmen..??!!
These are THE cutest things!!!! My DS and I just got finshed making these at my mom's house with her!!! They are so easy and so cute, and my little one loved helping!!
O.k here is an embarassing question.
Where do you find the cherries with the stem on them ?
I have looked at several stores, and the stems are already off.
Is it the ones you buy in the produce ?
Help, I need them for tomorrow night.
Thanks guys.
I think it just depends on the store. I've seen them with the stemless cherries. They are used for mixed drinks you may want to try were they sell the liquier.
