I thought it would be fun to share some pictures of the other hobbies and crafts we do. Adven68 posted her beautiful paintings and susanrcp shared a beautiful doily she made. Here is a Santa I made awhile back. I made him when I was doing my doll business and was going to put him on ebay. After I got him madeI just couldnt part with him so he takes his place in the rocking chair every Christmas since. He is about 5'3" tall. I would love to see some of your pictures!

Hi pinkbunny! I think that you can black out the faces...I'm not very good with computers. Do you have any photo editing software??

it takes nothing more than MicroSoft Photo Editor (free on most computers look under Accessories in the Program menu)

1) open MS Photo Editor

2) use FILE > Open and navigate to photo you want, the open it

3) on tool bar at top choose the tool that looks like a square drawn with dased lines.

4) move cursor over pic to upper left of face and LEFT-CLICK and hold while dragging to right and down. You'll see it draw a rectangle on screen.

5) make rectangle big enough to enclose face (little black boxes on side of rectange are handles you can grab to resize it better)

6) go to EDIT menu and choose CUT.

7) leaves a nice white hole where face was.

8.) go to FILE > SAVE AS and resave it under a new name.

9) while in MS Photo Editor can also resize it as needed (IMAGE > Resize. use pixles as measurement and for posting in forums --not gallery--, change largest dimension to 800 pixels, other dimension will scale automatically)

the process is similar in MS PAINT and there you can add type and play with colors some....but the output isn't as good IMHO.

WHAT???!? You have time for more than one hobby? I am turning a bright shade of lime green right now. LOL Every year I swear that I will learn to crochet so I can make lots of afghans, but it hasn't happened yet. I guess my other hobby is taking lots of pictures of my kids. I love playing with my little digital camera! icon_smile.gif

LOL momsandraven...I haven't sewed since my baby girl was born. She will be a year old next month. I usually made my dolls when the boys were at school and sometimes I would stay up late at night after they were asleep and sew. I really miss doing it!! Maybe one day when Maddie is older...we can both sit in there and sew together!!

Thanks for the help Doug...I can only get from A to B on a computer! icon_lol.gif

Denise...I love the santa....you did a wonderful job! You know I have 2 daughters and I always wanted them to craft....but no! They can't hardly use a glue gun! icon_cry.gif But my youngest daughter who is now 27 (had children at a very early age! icon_wink.gif ) has learned to make candles so we can do that together.
Well I have no photos of my crafts...But here are some of the ones I do:
crochet-sew-quilt-embroidery-woodworking-leatherworking-painting-scrapbooking-genealogy-writing-beadwork-ceramics-flower arranging........but as of now my favorite is making cakes and cookies!

I scrapbook and cross stitch. My current project is making a stocking for my youngest--it's sewing and it's taking FOREVER. I am really trying to get it done before Christmas--we'll see. I'll post a pic when I'm done.

Hi Denise,

I am a DIY person and do alot of building and trying to invent useful gadgets that will help save me some time.

Last year I built a 4'x4' storage building under my kitchen window and it looked so good that I then did a 10'x10' storage. Everyone that I knew that passed by my house would blow and laugh at me. I did everything except the A-Frame and shingles...I know my limitations thumbs_up.gif

Right now I am talking to different manufactures about my Tip Carousel. You wouldn't believe the outrageous prices they want to charge icon_cry.gif

Your Santa is beautiful and you should seriously think about selling them.

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year party.gif

What a fun thread! I'm a SAHM of 3yr old twin girls. I used to do wheel-thrown pottery but hanging out in the basement all day isn't great when raising kids that get into everything. I'm a 3-d person. Cakes are my medium now. Believe it or not, I can sculpt something but give me a pencil and paper and I'm a mess. I can't draw to save my life! Here's a picture of some of the pots and a sculpture I've done.

The b/w pot on the top left is actually 2.5 feet tall. The ones on the bottom are about 13 inches high.

Here's another doily I recently finished for Christmas. It measures approximately 36 inches across. I will put it on my table for Christmas. I love to create but need to move beyond crocheting. That is why I want to learn to decorate cakes icon_smile.gif

I also had a business painting Sweat Shirts and T-shirts. But I had to stop that because they were in such demand that I couldn't keep up and got very burned out on it. I've posted enough on here icon_smile.gif so I won't post pics of my shirts. Just thought I would share.
