Hello All,
You won't believe how much bad luck I've had in two days. Ok...I have 2 cakes due tomorrow (Friday). One is a YuGiOh cake like my last one thats in the gallery. That'll take no time to do. Then I have a 3 foot cake due for a christmas party. So I know you all can imagine how much icing I had to make. I started yesterday with my icing. Before I could even do half the amount of icing, my mixer COMPLETELY went out on me. I don't have a stand mixer because I don't get orders like that. So I laughed it off because I made a joke to myself saying that it would be funny if this happened to me but I said this 3 days ago. So I called a friend of mine to see if she has a hand mixer. I get it and plug it in, and it WOULDN'T COME ON!!!!!!!!! icon_cry.gif Now I'm starting to get pissed off at this point. So I say ok, I'll just get up early in the morning and go get another one. I wake up this morning SICK OUT OF THIS WORLD. Not to give too much info, but I started throwing up even when I hadn't eaten yet. So that was weird. I've been feeling bad ALL DAY. I got up at about 9 this morning and went to look for something just to get me by this morning to finish making my icing. Do you know that when I brought the little hand mixer home, it worked for about 10 minutes and then one of the motors for the beaters went out on me. I started to scream!!!!!!!!!!!! icon_mad.gif So now I have one beater working and I have cake # 3 of 5 in the oven right now. Wish me luck all.

How about if we wish you good luck instead of just luck? Sounds like you've got all the generic luck you need. Sending a {{{whammy of good fortune}}} your way!

I am so sorry that you are sick and having such a terrible time.

Take the mixer back! I used to burn up about one hand mixer a month. Make sure that you get one with at least a 200 watt motor. The 100 watts burn up before finishing one batch of frosting. Also make sure that you make you batches of frosting small so the mixer won't burn up so easily.

After about ten mixers, I went on ebay and bought an Oster stand mixer that I love, it in not a KA but it works and it came with several other attchments and has a 350 watt motor.

Good luck getting through this crisis!!

I would suggest getting a mixer that's atleast 300 W even if it's a hand held one. At 300 W you can easily make a double of royal icing. 200 W is not good enough.

I would send you mine, but I think that the "Post" won´t deliver in time. But I keep my fingers crossed that you will feel much better and that the cake will be wonderful.
Best wishes from rainy Hamburg.

Dear Santa,

I have been very good this year and done my very best to make extra good goodies.

But Santa, my mixer broke. I'm worried my goodies will become baddies and I'll be a meanie.

Please drop a new KA under my tree.

Thank you.

P.S. Look for your own special plate of goodies under the tree!

I'm so sorry, I can only imagine you already have enough in your plate with the cakes now it's the mixer. From what I read in your post you said your friend's mixer didn't work, could this entier problem have something to do with the plug (the one in the wall) some of them have a mind of their own. The same thing happened to me with a blow drier, I had that cheap one that wasn't working well and ended up stopping right in the middle of blow drying my hair, I went out and got a good one few days later it broke too!!! so i stopped using that cursed wall plug.
Like everyone said ask santa for a KA.

Thanks everyone. Well the cakes are done, even with one beater. I made it through but it was a LONG night. I feel back to myself today. But I posted the picture of the big cake I was working on. Its the christmas military cake. It turned out good considering the problems I had. But I thank you all for the comments and support. I will DEFINITELY get me a new mixer. I don't wanna go through this again! - Kenya

Kenya: Those cakes are gorgeous! I always say the sign of a good decorator is being able to work in the worst conditions and still be able to pull of a beautiful cake. Great Job!!
