I found this picture online today while looking for Christmas cake ideas. I can just see this made into a bell shaped cake. I have never done a carved cake, but may just have to give this a try!

You're so right! And it probably wouldn't be very difficult either. You could cover it in fondant, paint the lines around it with gold luster dust, write the Merry Christmas with the luster dust, then fondant holly leaves and berries and topper. Let us know if you try it!! thumbs_up.gif

I have been admiring this picture since you posted it. I would like to try it but I hesitate because I'm not very experienced with carving. It would make a beautiful cake!

woo-hooo! perfect idea for me to try w/ my new (yep still in factory wrap untouched) 3-D Wilton bell pan I scored on eBay along w/ 4 other pans for just (ok be jealous).....$20. (but shipping was a killer!) (just had to brag a bit....mom...the "I can get it less than wholesale" shopping queen would be so proud.)
