Ok maybe there is something I am missing, but I can't seem to get the right color red. It just looks bright pink. I am trying to get a nice bright red for pointsetas. So I have to just keep puring in the coloring, or is there a trick that I don't know??

To get the color really red, you have to use A LOT of coloring. I think it's about 1 cup of frosting to one of the big bottles of Wilton colors, or close to it.

Options:

Once you have a nice dark pink colour, let it sit for a few hours... the colour will develop and darken.

Try Christmas red or red red (rather than no-taste red)

Americolour reds are much better than Wilton

Airbrushing the colour over your item works really well

Also you can use pink to make deep pink, then use the red to make the pink red. You use less red that away. icon_wink.gif

It might take a couple of days to get your red. Once you get the color red, just make sure to always keep some frozen. I just simply add any extra white icing to my frozen red and just add a small amount of red and you're set. Also, I do the same for black.

Americolor is the best!!!!

I've been doing that too with black... I hate making black icing and it rare that I need a lot of it so I keep some on ice! I may have to start with the red also. I think I have a Spiderman cake or two in my near future icon_wink.gif

If you don't have access to Americolor (which is great, I might add) and get a bitter taste from the Wilton Red Gel coloring just add some ground cinnamon...it will get rid of that nasy bitter taste!! icon_smile.gif
