Hi,

Just a quick and maybe totally silly question. I want to do a chocolate mousse cake but I'm having some trouble with the texture of the mousse. I've posted about this before and got some recipes on making the mousse but since I'm not doing very well with the homemade mousse I was wondering if I bought a ready made mousse, would that work as well or whether the mousse cake needs a 'special' kind of mousse.

Regards
Shamani

Hi Shamani,
I'm not an expert in this area, but I didn't want your post to go unanswered. Maybe if you posted it in the recipe tips and ideas forum it would get more responses. I would think the ready made mousse would be fine, but I could be wrong. I'm sorry I couldn't be more help.

Hi Shamani,

Here is a quick and foolproof way to make mousse....beat 1 small box instant pudding (milk chocolate, chocolate, devils food whatever flavor you like) and 2 cups whipping cream. Beat it with the whisk attachment until it is nice and fluffy. Easy and yummy.

I think the ready made mousse would work fine as well.

That's a great recipe, I tried it before and it was crazy good, the only thing I might add to that is make sure you put a buttercream ring around the cake and fill the center, because this mousse has tendency to bulge out a little.

Yes definitely use a BC ring just in case...the recipe is so quick and yummy!! cuillere...the other day I made it with the oreo instant pudding from Jello and it was so good!!!! Have you tried that flavor?

I m planning on experimenting with all the flavors, I'll absoloutly try the oreo one, kids will go bananas for that. And by the way I loved it so much I saved half of it and used only half for the cake alternating with butter cream tapedshut.gif
