Can anyone help me out with how to make an eiffel tower cake? I saw one in the gallery that was awesome (I believe the tower was created using candy and then sat on top of a cake), but when I PM-ed the CC-er for instructions, I recieved no reply. Does anyone know where I can get some sort of template to create something like this? ...or have any other cool ideas for the eiffel tower? I really need to get back to her (client) ASAP.

I'm not sure if this is the one you are talking about http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&meta=search&search=eiffel%20tower%20&cat=0&pos=2&search=eiffel%20tower but it was made with royal icing. By looking at it looks like she made all the panels separately, and then attached them with more royal icing. It would help if you made yourself a template so that all your panels are the correct size so everything would match up(draw using a ruler the bottom panel, and then place parchment over this for you to trace along with the royal icing, make four and then attach etc). You would have to make four of every section so that its 3D. I think you could also do this with gumpaste if you wanted it a little less fragile.

Thanks for the reply. I'm a bit nervous, but I think I'm going to try it!

There were directions for this in one of the recent American Cake Decorating issues, I believe.

I just recently made one of these! In fact, I just uploaded it to my gallery and if you would like instructions and a template, please email me at [email protected]
