Is Fondant On A Square Cake Hard?

My instructor told me "never to try a square cake" and i was like well. I want to do a square one and i want to try. any tips???
It just takes a little practice, that's all... Start with the corners first and then do the sides. It's is a little more challenging than a round cake, but you can do it!!
my instructor for class one told us not to try many things. Especially the ones who were picking things up quickly, as it would take years, and she didn't want the competition. Which of course led me to think I want to try way more than I knew at the time.
Wow perfect timing! 'm jsut aboutt o try and put fondant onto a square cake tonight. As soon as i make the MMF and BC i'll be set to go!! I'll let you knwo how it goes!!
I don't find it hard to do a square cake at all. I find it easier than a round. I smooth the sides first then when I do the corners you are sort of pulling/tugging (gently mind you) down on the fondant.
I really don't think that is a shape that you couldn't cover in fondant. Some are going to be harder to work with than others, but it isn't just limited to round shapes. The cake picture beside my name was covered in fondant. If that shape can be covered I don't see why a square couldn't.
I can't believe your instructor would tell you that. If she is a WMI what cake does she teach in Course 3? The new book is a present/bow cake using a sqaure cake.
