New here. I bought a video that uses a cookie glaze. After cookies are cooled you brush the glaze, either colored or not, onto the cookie with a brush and let it dry. It leaves a smooth coating on the cookies that I imagine you decorate on it. I am still trying to learn how to decorate onto the cookies. Anyone else use this glaze or does everyone use the icing meathod?

A glaze is generally a form of thin icing. Once it is dry, you can add all sorts of decorations. You can also use royal, and many find the ease and beauty of fondant to be best.

Provided you use a cookie recipe that doesn't spread a lot, you can use the same cutter to cut out a piece of fondant, rolled buttercream or chocolate clay, to place on the cookie.

There are lots of ideas and techniques in this forum, just do a little search and you will find more ideas than you can imagine.
