Has anyone done this? I was just curious..like making the bottom chocolate and the top french vanilla on a standard 9'' double layer cake? I don't know because I've never done it, but I think it might be yummy. I could always experiment, but I don't like wasting my time when I have CC!! icon_razz.gif

If anyone has tried it, what are good combinations?? Or done two different flavors with a yummy filling? Am I going all cake on you all? LOL..I'm having cake overload right now.
I've never had French Vanilla cake, and I was gonna make one tonite..so, just wondering what kinda combos are out there?
Thanks!

For people who can't decide between chocolate and yellow cake, I'll sometimes do one of each, torte them both and alternate layers. So it would be a layer of chocolate cake, filling, a layer of yellow cake, filling, chocolate cake, filling, yellow cake. Looks nice when it's cut into. I usually fill it with a vanilla cream or chocolate mousse, but raspberry or strawberry work equally well.

Thank you so much. I'll do a trial run to see how good it is!

I appreciate it! Thanks!

The last wedding cake I did exactly that, choc cake -raspberry filling-vanilla cake for each tier. The bride wanted it that way and it turned out nice.

I've done a few cakes in different flavours. My shoebox cake was strawberry, chocolate and vanilla. It was great to cut into.
It was filled with chocolate buttercream.
I also make double decker mud cakes. You get 5 layers of cake, 3 dark and 2 white mudcake, joined together with white choc ganache. Not only does it look stunning when you cut it, but it tastes devine!!
I have a cake cooling down right now, caramel mudcake and coconut mudcake. They will also be joined with white ganache. I have never tried this combination before, but i think it will be delicious!!!
Give it a shot, you can only be pleased. I always try to get about 5 layers to my cakes, each layer being about 1/2 an inch thick.
