Sorry for adding this again, but I changed the subject hoping to get a quick reply.

I need to make a smash cake with icing that isn't too sweet. Can you use whipped cream icing to pipe with? I've never tried to pipe with that and I don't have a lot of time to play around. Or, if anyone has any suggestions as to a good recipe to use, please share. THANKS!

I decorate with whipped cream often with success.
I sweeten and stabilize mine with powdered sugar.

I just used the stabilized wc Wilton recipe and it worked better than I thought. I was able to pipe a border, drapes and small rosettes. Try to make it as cool as possible in the room you are decorating in and when you get ready to make the wc make sure your bowl and whisk have been in the fridge or even better freezer for a while. I even try to rinse my hands in cold water before I start to decorate just to help (I don't know if it does but psychologically it does!!)
