I mentioned in a previous thread that my husband keeps referring to my cakes with fondant on them "fondue" cakes, well my 4 year old son just asked me if he could eat the "vomit" off my cake, apparently yet another name for fondant!! He is a HUGE fan of Wilton fondant, YUCK!!!!

I have this one casserole dish that I make very infrequently and here's why.

It was a dish my mom created. When I was growing up, we were poorer than dirt so my mom frequently had to make meals out of whatever she had. This casserole is a can of chicken thrown into a pan of bread that's been torn into pieces, with a cut up onion, and then cover the whole thing in sage. Bake. It kinda tastes like chicken stuffing, with lots of chicken.

Anyway .... when you bake it, the top is crispy but the interior is (to use my husband's word) "Gooey". *I* prefer to call it "moist"! It may sound bad, but it's really good! (Look, when I was a kid, you learned to like mom's creations or you starved! )

Hubby asks me to make my "Chicken Goo". I told him I was NEVER making a dish that he referred to as "Goo". He keeps calling it that. I keep NOT making it.

Men. You'd think they'd figure it out.

I have a similar story. Whenever I make chicken and dumplings my husband calls it "That chicken and boiled bread dinner". He drives me crazy sometimes.

That sounds pretty yummy to me. I like canned chicken. I use it to make chicken turnovers all the time (yes, just canned chicken, drained, in pie dough shaped like a turnover!). I keep the juice from the can, add some soup base, and make gravy with it.

I am going to try that one day soon. With some soup base gravy on it.

My husband shows a little more tact. he will just say " i wouldn't order it if i was at a restaurant!"

at least he doesn't make gagging sounds like my kids do.

MMMM, chicken goo, kind of makes me think of the fatty greasy part off the end of a chicken leg. The recipe actually does sound good but maybe your husband ideas for names shouldn't be used for your business!!!

My hubby is, in addition to his day job, a stand-up comedian, and most of his material comes from 18 years of marriage!

True story (that he used at the comedy club last month): A Victoria Secret commercial was on and I said, "I'd like to have that bra!" And he said, (i'm not kidding, he really said)........

"Does Victoria Secret have stuff in your size?"

And he wonders why I never get his input on my business stuff?

I, too, have had people refer to fondant as 'fondue' When I started working with fondant, I used Wilton's, as it was readily available. Well, I made a practice cake and served to to my husband and some of his 'football friends' and they began calling cakes with fondant on them 'plasticakes' I now pretty much exclusively use MMF, but, much to my dismay, the 'plasticakes' title stuck!

My daughter calls fondant " FONDA " I can't help but to think of Jane!! LOL And my kids LOVE Wilton "fonda" too! YUCK!! lol So now everybody asks if I'm making a cake if it will have Fonda on it!!

LOL indydebi!! My husband says that VS calls their one bra the 'Wonderbra" because when you take it off, you 'wonder' where it all went!

In my family we don't have potatoes au gratin - we have potatoes all rotten. It's also not a hard boiled egg sandwich - it's a horrible egg sandwich. At least I know I'm not the only one with a nutty family!

How about "Prok Chops" instead of pork chops?

isn't it funny how our DHs can be such food critics. my DH is not picky... he will eat anything and everything... EXCEPT for canned peas. he is a "pea" snob!!
i usually use frozen peas but there is this one dish i make that my mom passed down that requires canned peas. i could try it with frozen but i refuse to since she always used the canned and i think they add a specific flavor.
well, he LOVES it. can't get enough. he has no idea the peas in it are from a can.

I make a soup called Tortellini Soup. When my oldest son was 2, he started asking me to make 'teenie-weenie soup'. We still call it that today.

Hi back at ya, Pucka!! My 4 yo gives everything the "lick" test. Give him something new and he licks it, it looks very strange.

Growing up my mom always made "Kelly's Rolls" actually they are butterhorn rolls but she got the recipe out of some church recipe book and the recipe was submitted by Mabel Kelly. So now 3 generations call it Kelly's rolls, sometimes I forget that isn't even the real name. Then there is Pink Salad, I have no idea what the real name is for that!!

I have a customer who always requests 'bouffant' icing. I said, "Do you mean fondant?" *insert explanation of texture, etc. to be sure this is what she means.* I don't care how many times I say fondant, she always said bouffant. Now it's a joke of course!!

I got a call from a lady today who was price checking for her daughters wedding. She wanted to know about dummy cakes. She asked, "And how do you price your dumb cakes?" Through the whole conversation, she kept calling it, "your dumb cakes."
