Did anyone happen to notice the wedding cake cookies that were on this show? The lady was making small (tiny) flowers by pressing fondant into what looked like a foam (flexible) mold and then she just popped out flowers. Anyone have any idea what it was or where to purchase one?

The mold she had looked like a silicom mold I have. The name escapes me(elegant lace impressions by rosemary Watson I think) , but the lady who made them retired taking her business with her. But I think something similar to this can still be found. Look under silicon rose mold on the internet.

Rosemary watson no longer makes molds. First impression makes silicone molds,as well as Sunflower Sugar Arts. You can find Sunflower mold on globalsugararts website and first impression has thier own site. They are both sources for silcone molds. Elegant Laces molds are also another place for molds, but they are not silcone..

Hi! CC'ers,
I am a Newbie and don't know if this will help or not, but I will be doing a birthday cake in March for my grand daughter. She wants a My Little Pony cake, I try doing the ponies out of fondant (1st. time fooling with fondant) after trying and trying I just could not get it right.
So I thought wonder if I could press it into my candy mold, I dusted the mold with powder sugar, press some fondant into it, took a toothpick to help lift it out, and a had this cute little pony that will work out great for the sides of her cake.

I am going to take icing to had a mane, tail, eyes and mouth. I haven't made a docorated cake in 20 years, so I was scared when she said she wanted me to do it, doing the pony in the mold help me not to be so worry about making her cake.

Hope this can help in some way.

p.s. I love this site and all the people on it are WONDERFUL!

I saw this show as well a few weeks ago, and have been looking for a similar mold with teeeny roses with no luck. I ordered some food safe silicon for molding and I am going to try and make my own with some small rose shaped beads. I'll let you know how it works once I do it.

I've done the same as Grannys3Angels (welcome, by the way!), but with larger polymer clay molds... made sure they were non-toxic first!

I didn't get the fine details I wanted, but the overall effect was GREAT!

what about using a polymer clay mold? I do not work with clay, but have seen them using molds on tv shows.

I haven't had alot of experience with fondont and I have been toying with the idea of using the molds they sell for clay. They are silicone and sell them in all different sets. Does anyone know if this will work?

I have used them before. I just greased the mold in order to get it out.

Thank You! so much for the Welcome khufstetter.

You can use just about any type of mold (of food quality and grade) or buy the stuff to make your own (Silicone Putty), as khufsetter said in her post " just make sure they are non toxic".
