I'm sooo sick with a head cold that I wake up at night b/c my nose is completely stuffed. I have to do this elmo cake for my nephew's birthday on Saturday and a cake order for Sunday but I have no energy. I am trying so hard not to breathe into anything and wash my hands like crazy. I so could use a day long nap.

You could just wear a scarf or a disposable mask that you can get at Home Depot or any hardware store.

..awh, you poor thing icon_sad.gif I hope you feel better soon!

the disposable mask will help with the germ issue and maybe some nice OJ will help you get some energy to do the cakes. Good luck!

Sorry to hear you are sick! I know what you mean, I not only don't have the energy when I am sick, but also the creative side of me is like on strike! Its hard to do cakes!

All I can suggest is maybe bake your cakes one day and then do the decorating another day? and sleep sleep sleep!

and don't forget the rubber gloves n all too. I usually take some echinacae at the first sign and that usually helps me kick it quicker.
Makes a decent tea. Or a hot toddy or some whiskey lemon tea (yumm).
Well, ya'll get better and get some rest. Have a good day!!!

I already have the cakes baked and frozen. My problem right now is making the red for elmo and getting the time to do them. I just need to crawl in a hole. It doesn't help that work is stressful right now.

I know how you feel....lethargic, zapped, just wanting to spend the next couple of days in bed...yet having orders to fill. It's a terrible feeling.

I would recommend OTC medicine, chicken soup, orange juice, tea, catnaps, comfy clothes, soothing music, fuzzy slippers, lots of handwashing and (yuck) a disposable mask so those pesky airborne viri don't land on the cakes. And take a sick day or two if you can swing it! Stress is sure hard on the immune system. icon_sad.gif

Sorry you are feeling sick, and hope you get better soon. I just had the same problem. I took OTC stuff - Nyquil and Vicks sinex helped me get a reasonable night's sleep Dayquil and Vicks for during the day. DH has a bunch of Home Depot masks for when he does dusty work, so I used one of those, and thin rubber gloves.
Take care.

Today is Thursday....Sleep all day today and get right on it Friday. I think the rest will help you and I am sure you have done work under pressure before. You may even feel better tonight to get started on your work. Take a long nap and get back up. Sleep does wonders

Sorry to hear your not feeling good. icon_sad.gif I have a couple of recipes, using natural ingredients, that will make you feel better and give you energy. Here they are:

Recipe # 1:
1 fresh pineapple, peeled and diced.
6 to 7 passion fruits, cut in half and put the meat in a container.
2 cups of honey.
Mix all ingredients in a container, that you can use to keep in refrigerator. you can eat it once or twice a day, after meals. This is like a dessert. You can keep it always in you refrigerator and it's delicious, too!!

Recipe # 2:
1 pound radishes (red).
Juice of 10 limes.
2 cups of honey.
Wash radishes, very good and put radishes and lime juice in a blender, blend; when blended, strain in a medium pot, then add honey, cook on medium- low heat to make a syrup. Let cool. Put in a small container and keep in refrigerator. Take two (2) to three (3) tablespoons twice a day. This one is also very good for people with "Chest Congestion" problems, specially children. My Mom though me this recipes. Two and a half months ago I was feeling weak (catching cold) and prepared this medicine, after a few days I was feeling like new, and everybody else was sick and I dind't catch cold again. So, hope it works the same way for you.

Hope these can help you feel better. icon_biggrin.gifthumbs_up.gif
Bye!

I wouldn't mind trying Sory's recipes but I live in MD and right now fresh limes and fresh passionfruit just don't exist.

I came to work today to share my germs. I just don't feel like I can be off for more than 2 days without a drs note or something. DH is home sick today so he's contaminated. I feel bad for him b/c today is his birthday too!

Oh, I'm so sorry you are feeling stinky! I used to fight being sick but I learned that if I give in and spend one day in bed taking care of myself, it's amazing how much better I feel the next day. Drink lots of water, suck on those vitamin C drops and I know it's old, but I cover my head with a towel and put my head over hot/steaming water to open up my sinuses. Also, if they find you lying on the floor in your office, they might feel sorry for you and send you home early! icon_lol.gif

Oh! If you add to that hot/steaming water some "Vaporub" it'll be much better for you, then it'll open up your sinuses and you'll breathe even better.
Hope this can help. thumbs_up.gif
