I need to make chocolate buttercream frosting, and I don't have any cocoa powder or chocolate squares but I do have chocolate pudding mix. Will I ruin my buttercream completely if I try to use it?

I've never heard of anyone trying this, but I would think it would change your consistency quite a bit because the pudding mix has other things in it to make the pudding get thick (cornstarch?). There may be a way to offset it by adding more liquid, but I think there would be a lot of trial and error. Might be best just to break down and go to the store. Good luck.

Disclaimer: I could be totally wrong, this is just what I think would happen. Hopefully someone else can tell you for absolute sure.

I have never tried pudding in my buttercream before. I think I read that someone put chocolate syrup in hers...but I don't remember if the consistency was too thin. Maybe someone else will know. icon_smile.gif
