Hi All,

I just got asked to do a boombox cake for a 9yo girl....Has anyone ever done something like this? I'd like to do something in a 3-d version.

Any thoughts (or pictures) would be greatly appreciated!!

TIA!!

Peggy

Wasn't there a "boom box" type cake in the Wilton Fondant book? I cant remember it's title, but I think it was "Fun with Fondant" or something like that... it came out earlier this year but was NOT the yearbook...? I remember seeing it and thinking it was a pretty easy cake for a "wow" type effect... HTH

...yep, it's in the Wilton, Fun with Fondant book (p. 46)and it's called Booming out the Tunes. It is basically 2 stacked long loaf pans, covered with fondant..the top handle is a long roll of fondant, bent to resemble a handle. All the knods and things are made of fondant as well. They show some CDs that are made from fondant too!

You could also do a regular loaf pan stacked on top of a sheet cake. Then you could add some cd's and maybe some musical notes. I think there is a chocolate mold for musical notes. Or you could make them out of fondant. icon_smile.gif
