I will be having my daughters 4th birthday in January celebrating it with the theme of Ariel, the little mermaid. Bought cake pan off of ebay. Got instructions off of your site but don't have the face plate that goes with it. Anybody know where I can get one or how I can improvise without it? Birthday is scheduled for January 7th - HELP!! icon_cry.gif Thanks!! icon_biggrin.gif [email protected]

Hi there! No worries, this can actually be a simple fix. 2 ideas: 1) You can download one from the Wilton site probably and print it out.
2) Make a buttercream transfer. I LOVE making these becuase they are so easy and look amazing! What you could do is, find the picture of her that you want to use (or the picture that came with her online somewhere). Print it out and blow it up on a copier to the size you need. You can then make a bct (buttercream transfer) from it by doing the following:
1. Trace it onto wax paper.
2. Turn wax paper over and trace your 'traces' with buttercream (use a very fine tip, like a 1 for this. Instead of using buttercream for this, I like to use a chocolate or fudge store-bought forsting, as you won't need very much at all). Trace the entire tracing with this.
3. Go back and fill in each area with the colors you desire. Use a 2 or 3 with this and pipe it in, then use your finger to lightly press to fill in all holes.
4. Pipe white (or whatever color you cake is going to be ) icing over the back of your bct. This will help it set so you can move peel it off the wax paper when it's time. Simply fill in the entire backside with the icing.
5. Stick in freezer. After it is frozen, you will be able to peel off the wax paper and place onto your cake. Then you can just add a border around the bct becuase it will be a little higher elevation than the cake. Once it defrosts it will be like normal buttercream!

I'm not sure if these directions made sense, and I realized that there is actually a tutorial on here that you can see pics and get full directions. I would recommend looking at it becuase it's such a wonderful way to make pictures, etc. on a cake!

I hope this helped in some way, and I hope I understood your question correctly! If not, let me know and I'll see if I can help in another way.

Good luck!

I'd call Wilton and see if you can get a replacement or maybe check eBay. You could also make yourself one by laminating a pic.
