Do you think this is chocolate fondant or just colored?

If it is chocolate - what kind would you suggest to get this color?

I figured it was fondant! Any suggestions as to what kind or could it be assumed it is from scratch. I have tried to get fondant this chocolate, and I just can't get it this color.

Pettinice chocolate fondant is very, very dark. If you look at my photos, you can see the birthday present with the gold bow, the appointment book in the New Salon photo, and the top book in the Hebrew Books photo. Those and the rim of the chalboard in the Bilingual Chalkboard cake are all Pettinice chocolate. You can get it from Pfeil and Holing at www.cakedeco.com for $12.50 + shipping for 5 pounds or $41.55 +shipping for 15 lbs. Sugarcraft.com has it too. It is very nice to work with too.

The cake in the first pic almost looked like it was dusted with cocoa powder because it looks so matte.

I've asked about getting choc buttercream dark and have been told people just add black to it to get a richer brown.

It tastes just like Tootsie Rolls.

I agree with TickledPink. The first photo looks like it was heavily dusted with cocoa powder to look matte.

Hi all,
That gerbera cake is mine. I used chocolate SatinIce and white SatinIce kneaded together for a "milk chocolate" color. HTH
