I've made MMF in my KA before. It's the smallest model. Works just fine with the dough hook.

Hi Lisa!! I've made the MMF by hand also...and it is easy. brainsbaker told me how to do it....make sure that you keep your hands grease with crisco while doing it....and make sure after each cup of powdered sugar you add that you knead until it's all worked in. I promise it's really easy! icon_biggrin.gif

You could do this with an airbrush on buttercream if you have one...or maybe the can sprays. You'd just need to make a few templates.

If you decide not to go with MMF, I bought Wilton color mist and sprayed on before, (see my Canada flag cake). Just cover up part of the cake and spray. Make a template for the star.

Suela, so those color mist sprays actually work? You'd recommend it? I've been tempted, but just figure it wouldn't deliver as promised. Your Canada cake looks great--I had assumed it was airbrushed. Cool!

I also used them on the two tier baby shower cake with the cloud motif around the side. Test spray first on a paper towel, just to get the hand of it. It can "spot" a bit, but that is usually only if you don't press hard enough. Harder to do smaller details, but would work for your cake fine. I am a little air brush shy, just yet, but thanks for the complement!

The other option would be to do a frozen buttercream transfer the size of the pan and ice the sides of the cake appropriately where the colours would fall were it wrapped around the cake.
Heehee, have to say that that heart beating is making me feel a bit ill.

It actually reminded me of a cake I saw recently. It was a beating heart cake that actually did beat. Weird!

Heehee, that one bothers me too! Makes me feel like my heart isn't beating right, haha, not a good idea for me! Guess it would be good for a cardiologist.
