Hi all,

Just noticed that I'm officially a regular member now and started poking around and realized that there are only 2 Forum Superstars and 6 Forum Fanatics...which made me ask the questions -

1) How long has Cakecentral been in existence? I love this website for all the helpful hints/tips and pictures (for inspiration and ideas) and can't imagine not having had CC available through all my cake baking/decorating trials and tribulations since I've started in June this year.

2)How did CC come into existence? Whose "baby" is this? Would love to know a little history behind this place!

Congrats on becoming a Reg thumbs_up.gif

CC is Jackie's baby and Heath's adopted child icon_biggrin.gif Jackie and Heath are the site administrators. I'm not sure of the actual birthdate. I think Jackie posted it somewhere and I'll look for it but I believe it was just a few months before I joined.

Still haven't found CC's actual BD but Jackie's join date was in May of 2004 so I'd say it was right around that time that CC came to be. CC is also based out of WA

cakecentral.com went live I believe in May 2004. Jackie is a web designer and cake decorating enthusiast. She had a hard time finding the free resources she was looking for on the internet, so she created this community to fill the void.

To our surprise, the site grew quickly, drawing many very knowledgable, helpful, and caring people. It became a safe haven for new decorators to find the support and encouragement they needed to find their way.

Due to the quick growth, I became involved to help her keep things running smoothly. For anyone who does not already know, I am her fiance.

Despite whatever help I have provided, we could never manage this growth without the voluntary efforts of our fantastic group of moderators, or the contributions of all of our wonderful members. For a group of this size, we have amazingly few negative situations occuring in the community. So few that when one does happen, it reverberates throughout the entire community.

We are all fortunate that the members of Cakecentral are the most kind and supportive group of people I have ever been associated with. It is because of this that Jackie and I are so happy to continue to put in the work to keep the site free to all.

Our community continues to grow at a shocking rate, and it should be amazing to see how many new people we will welcome over the next year.

Heath and Jackie,

I just wanted to thank you for the work you put in bringing this site to everyone. I for one started baking just a few months ago. There is no one in my family that likes to do this...so it is great when I can pop in here ask a question, get inspiration etc. ... you guys do awsome work!!

I wanted to thank Jackie and Heath for this wonderful site. Because of them I have become a forum junkie. LOL.... I just began decorating cakes and I think this site is just the best and it's FREE!!!! I do have to admit that I have put my online gaming experience on the back burner, and have disappointed some friends and my DH...but I am going to make an effort to balance my forum addiction with my gaming. LOL... Seriously though, this site has helped me a whole lot. I love being able to post pictures of my cakes, good or bad and get compliments or suggestions on ways to improve. As a beginner I think the more you can learn from others the better you will be. Thanks again Jackie and Heath!!!
