I used to, but ever since my identity theft that involved my paypal and ebay account, I haven't for awhile. I do want to, but I just don't have the time right now to sit and surf ebay.

i buy any cake decorating supplies that i can. you can find good deals there! i'm also going to start selling items not related to cake decorating.

I learned from what happened though... don't have the same password for evey internet account you have. Makes it way too easy!

All the time! I buy it all from books to pans. Unless you get very lucky at yard sales and thrift stores, this is the only place to find discontinued or HTF items. I've since run out of space to store anymore so I buy less.

m0use...so sorry! Just a word of advice to anyone who is registered with eBay or Paypal--DO NOT fall for the spoof emails. Spoof emails will seem to come from eBay or Paypal. They will say your account is in danger or being misused (something like that) and will contain a link to sign into your account. Do not click the link. Never sign in through a link. Always open a new browser and go directly to your account to check status.

I'm not saying this is what happened to you m0use. I've been getting emails like this for over a year. I just delete them. Neither eBay nor Paypal send emails like this.

I was talking to my SIL just last week. She brought up getting one of these emails. I told her to delete it--not do it. It was too late. She had to go in and change her passwords.

Or if you do get them...forward them to your local FBI office. That way the FBI can shut them down, since I belive spoofing is a federal offense.

I reported the first couple to eBay. It doesn't stop them. These crooks are able to hide the source of the email or disguise it using someone else's email address. It's really left up to us to protect ourselves.

I love shopping on Ebay when time permits. You can find some good deals, but watch out for the shipping costs. Sometime I'll find a great deal, only to discover that the shipping charges put the cost of the item far above what I would pay at Michaels or Joanns using their frequent 40% or even 50% off coupons. Also, if you are buying books, magazines, or any other publication make sure that these are shipped by "media mail" through the post office. Media mail is CHEAP, although slow, but is sometimes not offered by sellers (and it should be!).

Start out slow. Read the product desciptions carefully. Ask the seller questions if you are not sure. Read the feedback for the seller before you buy. Make sure you understand payment options; some sellers accept personal checks, some only Paypal (you will need to set up an account), some only accept certified funds or money orders (remember to figure the cost of buying these certified funds, as well as the time and gas money spent obtaining them).

My husband sells on Ebay. Books, the odd electronic part, extra cake decorating items, he even sold our piano! I leave that to him and happily spend the money made from Ebay sales on cake decorating items sold on Ebay!

I buy all sorts of cake stuff on eBay... books, pans, equipment, supplies... got my 3 volumes of the Wilton Way encyclopedia for $96 including shipping for three separate lots through eBay. I'm ticked off, though, 'cause I lost an auction for the three pattern books last night and I'm getting desperate.

I've not yet had a problem with my accounts getting hacked... but I have a tendency to use obscure words for my passwords, so that's one small advantage... and yes, you can report hacking attempts (pharming/click through links and phishing/emails) to the FBI. Can't guarantee it'll get you very far, but it is an option.

I use it too ofter for my husbands liking! You can find all kinds of stuff on there. A lot of things that aren't available any more, etc. But, like linnburg said ~ make sure you read everything. Check out the shipping charges and make sure what $$$ you are bidding in. Also, make sure you are comfortable with what methods of payment they accept. Some take Paypal, some don't take personal checks and some want money orders. Depending on where you go ~ money orders can cost you $5.

When you get the fradulent emails claiming to be from ebay or paypal, make sure you forward them to [email protected] & [email protected]. That way they can check into it further.

I've bought alot of cake pans on ebay, it can be addicting! Everytime I get on the computer my husbands asks me what I'm buying now

I agree that you really have to watch the shipping as you can think you are getting a great deal and with the shipping added on it really gets the price up there.

I bought 90% of my cake supplies from ebay. I buy books, cake pans, cake stands, tips, decorating bags, etc. I even bought a hexagon cake pan set for $20 including shipping and it cost about $35 at my local cake supply store. I also bought about 7 mini muffin (pans with six molds per pan) pans for under $10. I love ebay. I only had one issue with an item that I bought and it took the seller over 7 months to refund my money but other than that all of my transactions have been smooth sailing.

I'm addicted to ebay. I remember how great my deals have been and I go back for more.

Whenever I need or am looking for something, my first stop is ebay. I buy and sell on ebay. I have nothing for sale right now. But I got great deals on a fondant tool set and a 55 tip master set. The best is when I can buy something on ebay and then repost it and make more then I paid for it.

I love ebay! In fact, I am browsing it now while I am also reading the forums! I had a bunch of those spoof emails and I sent them to ebay, haven't gotten any in a while again. Good thing! I especially love looking for old wilton yearbooks.

Luv it!!!! I outfitted my sister's cake deco business a few years ago off of ebay. A bakery was going out of business and selling EVERYTHING, I got lucky, very lucky. It took 14 boxes to ship all that I bought her; pan, tips, bags, pillars, wedding cake supplies up the wahzoo! And the best part is that it cost me penny's!!! I love eBay!

Never have sold but I am tempted I have shape pans I have not used since my boys grew up

And I so want a silver Platue Found a site where they are a steal BUT you have to buy a case of 4 for $180 and people are selling them for $90 each on ebay! My sis said order the case and sell the rest and come out ahead. I wish I could find people local that would just go in on a cas with me.
