I know they dont have to, but I noticed that Wilton wont post all posts. I make sure I mention this site from time to time about the quick posting and quick help, and I would say out of 10 posts only a few are posted. No I dont make it general practice to constantly bring this site up, but when I think it's feasible and would help (like on weekends) I do... and they dont choose to post them... icon_cry.gif Oh well....

It's not just you! Wilton hasn't posted my last two replies. I've just given up on them. I think they have a few people working the forums who think of it as jury duty icon_sad.gif .

I don't think they posted half my replies in the last two weeks. I hardly ever go to that site anymore. It's a shame they handle things so poorly for such a big company.

Long live Cake Central!

That is why there are so many site like this one and LC that are online is because of Wilton.. they are Chicken Poop about how they run there site They are so afraid that someone is going to say something on there site... YOU know in the 4 years that LC has been on line I have had to delete less then a handful of posts that were wrong... I would be that if wilton would let there posts go right on they would have so much information on there it would not be funny..

And you know the other thing that just makes me mad is that NO ONE is able to post a recipe... If there is a recipe asked for the person posting the recipe will email it in place of posting it on the site for others.. And when you ask for them to email it to you too you dont get it .. its just sad all around over there..

I agree...I hardly ever go over to the Wilton site..except that I have a few running ones that I keep replying to. I have only had one rejected post because of the word "boob" cake! I thought that was a pretty mild word!

I have seen many recipes posted on there though.. The MM fondant one, for instance!

I constantly mention this website when I reply to Wilton members..I always refer them to here, telling them how great it is and how helpful people are at Cakecentral!!!

Wilton may only be hurting themselves but given that it is such a huge company, I guess they have to be extra cautious since there are so many people looking for lawsuits, for any possible reason!

This morning, after posting my complaint about Witlon here on this site, I answered two questions over there and my responses were posted with the hour! And one of them contained a recipe--go figure!

Mostly what happen is you got in on the end of when they were adding posts that happens some times but for the most part you wait... And God Help you if you need help on Friday - Sunday your not going to get it till Monday some time.... Or if you need Help right away that is not going to happen...

YES they post some I mean some recipes but for the most part the recipes are not posted nor are they in an area where you can go and look for them your self. Like they are here or on LC you know what I mean..

If you want a cake recipe her its linked to a site where its written or its re written out for you its not send me your email and I will email it to you.. to where if other wants to try or see that recipe its not there.. that is what I was talking about .. I guess its just a pet pee for me.. LOL

I think you should help as many people as you can not just one or two people ... and by posting what ever or linking it your helping not jsut that person but anyone else that may need that or are too shy or think that it may be dumb (which there is never a dumb question) question so they dont post..

I asked when I was on the Wilton site why most recipes are not posted, but emailed. From what I understand, there was a member called the Cake Lady who passed away. Her recipes are emailed only in respect to her wishes. She didn't want them posted, so they are emailed. Out of respect for her wishes, I will email those only also. But, as to why other members choose to only email their own recipes, I have not a clue! I think it is great that here we can post recipes to share! Help is only a click away here, but on Wilton, you wait and wait...

That is right about her recipes she wanted the one on one contact with the person.. But you would think that they would post them now that she is not there to pass the recipes on ..

I agree with you, but it seems like it is not just her recipes. It is difficult to find a recipe on that site other than Wilton unless you request it and wait for it to be emailed.

From what I understand Wilton won't post a lot of recipes because many of them are copyrighted. They come from other sources/books. Before posting a recipe, they will sometimes reply with a copyright notice and edit it out. A lot of posters know this already, so they respond with the option to email the recipe instead.

There is no way to copywrite a recipe... You cant copy write ingrendients the only thing that can be copy written and there is limits to that too is if you take it word for word as to what someone else has.. But there is only so many ways to say mix and stir and ect.... So really you cant copy write a recipe....

I'm guessing it's just another case of Wilton taking extreme care with the content of their forums. I tried to post the Winbeckler's Rolled Buttercream recipe. Wilton replied with the copyright notice and edited it out thumbsdown.gif .

Now that one I am not sure how she is doing that .... I too had her recipe posted on my web site... The only thing I think she has a leg to stand on with that one is cause it is in her book and that is how she makes her money is people buying that book for that recipe.. She did have a lawyer send me an email and told me that I needed to take it off my site and I was LIKE WHY... LOL And that is what they told me cause its in her book...

But for the most part you cant copy write a recipe... becuase your not able to copy write the ingredients... Just the directions being word for word is all...

I am not trying to argue with you I am just telling you what I know about this issue... Please dont think I am trying to argue the point...

Ladycake...I don't think we're disagreeing at all! I think copyright law is vague and copyright lawyers are always looking for work. I'm glad to see that you have more spine than Wilton which must have a team of lawyers scaring their pants off icon_biggrin.gif !
