I made cake balls for my husband's work for Valentine's and one of his coworkers wants to order a box...how do you charge for them? I made them using the mini ice cream scoops so they come out pretty big...about an inch and quarter after being dipped in chocolate...one cake recipe made about 80 balls...she only wants 40 though...please help. Thanks!

I just sold a dozen cake balls to a girl at work who is giving them to her husband for Valentine's Day. I charged $10.00.

I would charge at least $12.00 for a dozen. Minimum 1dz.

I did them for the first time last week. What I did was dip the fork in the chocolate then place the cake ball on it then I spooned the chocolate over the cake ball while it was on the fork. they came out pretty smooth although i had a hard time covering the bottom.

but at a cake class the instructor said to put a little bit of melted chocolate on the paper cup then place the covered cake ball on it and that covers the bottom. maybe someone has a better way but that's how i did it

12 bucks a dozen sounds reasonable. Theres many ways to cover/dip them. I have used a small pair of tongs to dip mine is melted chocolate. I have rolled them in dutch cocoa...so many possibilities!!! thumbs_up.gif

I think that the easiest way to dip a cake ball is the same method used for dipping truffles. Make a "foot" on the ball by place some melted chocolate on the bottom and then let that harden. Then go back and dip the rest of the ball. The chocolate foot allows you to put the cake ball on a fork with out it rolling around. Then when you dip, drop the ball straight into the chocolate and pick it up with the fork (foot side down) the foot will also allow the ball to slide of the fork easier. Or you can use a second fork to help it along. I hope this helps.
