Well, the lady I was suppose to do a wedding cake for in January has now moved the wedding date up to November 26th!!! She's cutting the size of the cake down drastically (from over 100 to 15-20 servings)... It's going to be a very small last minute wedding... She has suggested layers of possibly Italian Creme and some sort of chocolate... I'm not sure if these 2 flavors even go together, or at least I wouldn't think they would.... anyone have any suggestions? I'm about to email her a response and suggest we meet ASAP!! Any help or input is very much appreciated!!

Cheryl, I hope you got a deposit. It sounds like she is kinda flighty. And if you have already done a tasting and are about to meet with her again you have already put some time into it..not to mention it sounds like it might be stressing you a little. So I would hate a last minute cancellation to rip you off...not saying it will happen , but my interest is seeing you cover your butt. If only for 20 people tops how much cake is she really gonna need? Will 2 flavors be needed? I am like you with that flavor combo, to me Italian Creme kinda stands alone.

I agree you should meet and set in stone what she wants and with less than 2 weeks notice I would go ahead and call payment due. Just something to think about. Hugs, Karyn

I agree with KayDay...not sure about the flavor combo. And, not only would I call payment due; I'd say make it cash.

I just emailed her and told her it was cash up front, this week, full payment for me to do the cake. I also told her since I would have to do 2 different flavors, there would be an additional charge and the fillings were extra too. I just can't believe her moving up this wedding and not even taking the time to call me to let me know!

Since the cakes wouldn't be served together, I would think Italian Creme w/cream cheese filling and chocolate with a raspberry filling. what do you think?

From your first post I thought you meant she wanted an Italian Creme cake and a chocolate cake layered together! icon_surprised.gif That didn't sound so appealing. icon_rolleyes.gif But your combo sounds yummy! thumbs_up.gif

That is a drastic change in the number of guests; kinda makes you wonder what happened. icon_confused.gif

I've heard of about 4 or 5 wedding dates that got moved up ... Hurricane Rita must to have scared them into marrying lol
