Well, I was just looking at the suitcase that "ceculsk" just posted and the retro cake that "adven68" just posted! I mean, just look at them. I would have never though to do cakes like those. Where does everyone come up with their ideas? Do THEY look elsewhere in books or online and come up with idea or do they pull it out of thin air. I want that kind of creativity!!!!! Just when I think I'M creative enough, I see more..... icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

I'm so glad I have their inspiration though! I just need more time with two kids.

I hear ya cakemommy.......... I was wanting to do a FBCt and I couldn't think of anything "creative" to do.. I always wonder how these guys do it..

HOWEVER, I felt better when I asked my kids (4 little monsters), if they could have anything on a cake what would it be these were the responses I got:

"not another cake!!!"
"oh mom, just do whatever"
"that teapot cake (nahhhhhhhhh, u couldn't do that)"
and the final answer
"a picture of Daddy, hes my favorite!!!"

So much for creativity... LOL

I guess thats why the galleries are here...for the less than original people like me!!!

Please!! The fact that we are all here shows that we are creative, otherwise, we'd have no interest in doing cakes in the first place!!! There is nothing wrong with taking inspiration from others. And once you think someone is so much more creative than you, there is someone even more creative out in the world than them. Sometimes I'll have an idea for a great cake, only to discover that it's already been done. (my great idea that nobody had was to do a babushka stacking doll cake.....nope! Someone beat me to it on here!! icon_sad.gif
So I say, enjoy it, keep making and practicing and do it out of love for other people....God will keep the inspiration coming in one form or another!!

Nope..she wasnt complaining. Didnt hear that. It was more like "Wow, just when I think it's all been done, somebody comes up with something else. Isnt that great?! I love these people on here, they so creative. Ohhh..and Dale's the bestest, funniest guy I know." Well, maybe not the last part, I made that up. But it's my little post so I can do that. I't's me.
Being creative.
Yup..thats the way I read it.

Amy....I'm not sure where in my post I was giving the impression that I felt you were complaining. I'm sorry if I did...I certainly didn't think that. I thought you were joking, and it was very obvious that you were extremely complimentary. I never took it for a second that you were complaining.

My response was meant for the general reading audience, just some thoughts on creativity. I was writing in response to all the posts, and from my own experience and how I feel about myself and my own creativity. Rest assured, everything was written with a light spirit and a smile .

I have found sometimes that when people say "you" in these posts, it is hard to discern if one is saying "you" in general or "you" to a specific person. This time, I was just dishing my thoughts and meant "you" in general. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
