Hi

Someone has requested an African themed wedding cake. She gave me a picture of the cake which I have attached.
Any ideas as to how to go about with this would help. It look pretty easy but sometimes the things that look easy are often the things that are the most difficult. I was thinking of baking two cakes per hut....one domed cake and one round. The domed cake will be placed on the round but I'm not sure whether I should be placing this on dowels.(I've never done anything stacked before.) The cake sizes are fairly small. The other thing is, she wants sponge cake with buttercream.....how am I going to get the domes that smooth?
Please help. This is the first time I'm doing a 'wedding cake' and I'm really nervous on the one hand and totally excited on the other.

It looks like the cakes may have been baked in deep nesting bowls. Try baking a couple and see how they turn out. Good Luck.
