I think they are gorgeous but I can't figure out what they are. Is there a cake in there and then covered in Jello? What are you making the flower out of? And how do you eat it? Is it like Jello?

They are all gorgeous... really pretty.

Wow you did a good job. That was one of the demonstration classes at the ICES convention this year. The demonstrator was even selling the tools. Great job again

This looks like a different technique was used than on other gelatinas I've seen. Yours do look like a cake under a layer of clear jello. A nearby supermercao sells gelatinas that look just like real avocados. Can you provide any useful links?

Looking in the Spanish section it looks like I found a link to a website that details how to these amazing gelatines! Now if I could only read Spanish!

Here is the link:

http://personales.com/mexico/mexico/GELATINAS3D/

Anyone willing to translate for us? icon_lol.gif

Ok, I have been searching and searching... I can not read spanish, but with the really rough google translations I think (note:key word is think) that you make and decorate regular cake and somehow the gelatin (clear) is poured over top and let set... I am still not exactly sure.. I will keep looking, I can not wait to find out!!

the link describes injecting colored gelatin into the clear gelatin to form flowers. i'm not sure that's the method that was used for the pic posted here.

CakeLadyatLA, you should enter your work in the San Diego Cakes on Parade, Cake show and Contest! There is a category for gelatin works! San Diego is just a couple of hours from you. The contest is the 3rd weekend in March in LaJolla.

I hope we get enlightened soon...LOL! Until then here are the instructions in English for making a 3D rose suspended in gelatin.

http://www.gmap-gelatin.com/feature.html

It ends up looking just like the ones posted.

You can also go to www.gelartfloral.com for more info. The site has an English version.
