Sometimes communication is the worst thing to recieve from people.. My step mother asked if I would make 40lbs of potatoe salad for my sisters Quinceanera tomorrow.. She asked us about a 2 weeks ago.. Everything was still the same until today!!
Hubby and I make no plans for the day get everthing ready... Pots, potatoe peelers put my hair up and we were waiting and ready.. I called her to see what time she was bringing the items. She said" oh I forgot to tell you, we don't need it after all". icon_confused.gif I could have strangled her through the phone.. Can you imagine if I had 40lbs. boiling.. It's a good damn thing I didn't.. icon_mad.gif

Good news is you Are getting paid. Did you call in sick the day before? It was probably just an innocent mistake. He may have thought you would not be feeling well enough to do the cake So he decided to get a replacement.

I can feel your pain.

This lady had ordered three cakes from me, Spongebob, Blue Power Ranger and a Dallas Cowboy 3D Football on 1/2 sheet cake.

I called her to ask her a question about the football cake and was told that she no longer wanted the football cake but still wants the other two...I am so glad that I didn't buy the football pan last weekend.

Now, of course, it was too much for her to pick up the phone and cancel the cake...some people are so inconsiderate icon_mad.gif

I'm not sure why you're upset. We have various reasons for calling in sick to work. Your boss was right to assume that if you were unable to work, then you'd probably be unable to bake and decorate a cake. I think it's great that he paid for a cake AND is still paying you. You have a very understanding boss.

I can understand your frustration but look at it this way---that ugly store bought cake makes yours look better!!! There was a girl at work having her 60th birthday. One person in the office asked me to make the cake and apparently didn't tell other people, so someone bought a grocery store one too. So they sat together on the sale table. It sure made me feel good to walk by less than an hour later and to see my GONE and the other one with just a few pieces out of it!!

He is but I still would have liked to know it was cancelled.. I busted butt to get it done and there.. oh well, I hopefully will get the check for it Monday (Office manager was out when I go to work) I was just irked... and it was the smoothest cake I have done to date... I even tried royal icing for the letters ahead of time.. I think it worked well icon_smile.gif No one has said anything on its comments yet but I like it.. it is the one with the green letters.. simple cake but nice.
