Hi, I am preparing to make a hula girl cake using the Wilton mini wonder mold pan. I noticed that the doll pick is bigger than the mini mold. It looks like the upper body is longer than the rest of the body. Do you have any suggestions for making a proportionate hula girl? Thank you.

Hi, LaCakeria
You need the mini doll pick or a small doll would work. If using a regular doll wrap the body in plastic wrap then insert.

Hi,
If it would help to look at a picture I have one in my photos of a bridal shower cake using the mini molds and mini doll picks. I think they come out pretty proportional. Hope this helps

Cakeria....(cute name by the way...)

I know I'm a perfectionist (to my own demise, sometimes!) and I have been trained to recognize proportion, being an artist, but I have always noticed what you are saying. I think the cakes are adorable but the skirt needs to be longer (Maybe by 2 or 3 inches) if you want it to seem true to life. (As true as a cake can be, anyway...)
Perhaps if you bake a round cake in the diameter of the base of the skirt and just add it underneath before you decorate, it will lift the whole thing up. That's what I would do....

have fun!!!...and no offense to anyone's doll cakes...it's a personal thing...like I said the cakes are adorable...

Thanks for your replies! Now, where do I buy the mini doll pick? I did not find it at Walmart's or at Michael's.

I thought about baking a round cake the size of the base of the mini mold but cannot find an actual size...I tried all my cans at home. I'll probably use the 4" and cut it if I don't find the mini doll pick.

Thanks everyone!

LaCakeria,
I'm not sure where in Ohio you live, but I got mine at Joann Fabrics...I think I also got a pack at Michaels.

Lacakeria,

I picked up little dolls at the Dollar Store to make my mini fairies on my Fairy Princess Cake. I found they were a perfect size and way cheaper and fit the mini wonder great. They also had softer prettier faces, I find the cake picks faces and hair not so attractive.

The cake is in my pictures if you want to take a look.

I've been to 2 Michael's and 2 Walmart's. I still cannot find the mini doll pick.

Freddie, I went to the dollar stores looking for a small doll and thought that those did not fit the mini wonder mold. I guess I was wrong, they look beautiful in your cake. I'm going there today if I cannot find them, I'll try JoAnn Fabrics.

Thank you all for the suggestions! I'll let you know how the cake turns out.

LaCakeria,
I hope you find them...when I went to get the second pack of dolls at Michaels they were out and I don't think they've restocked them. I did find them at Joann's though.
