why I don't do cakes professionally. I have spent all night doing a cake for my friend's daughter's 1st birthday and it is just not coming out right. Why is it that you can do a practice cake and it will come out pretty well, but then the real thing is 10x harder and dosen't come out as well?
Hats off to all of you professionals out there!!!! I don't know how you do it! I am now going to bed and hoping that my cake does not fall during the night! I'll post pics later (if it survives!)
Thanks goodness for CC.......Saves my husband from my venting!
Your cakes are beautiful, maybe you just need some rest and everything will be ok in the morn.
tyty-
Thanks for the encouraging words. I just uploaded the photo...it is in my photos, under 1st birthday cake, it's the pillow cake sitting on top of the round. Thankfully, it didn't fall apart over night!
yes, do tell us, mlynnb, why don't you do cakes professionally? I looked at all your photos. You are extremely talented!
Awww! Thanks you guys!
In answer to your question eriksmom.... Right now I'm a SAHM with two boys who play every sport imaginable and I teach pilates classes 4 times a week for my extra cash, plus I still have a 4 yr old at home, so I don't have a lot of extra time! I have really been considering the idea of doing it professionally once my youngest is in school-especially since it is so easy to have a cottage foods business here in OH! I'm still kicking it around, we'll see!
Thanks again for the kind words everyone!
You really should consider it. I've beena SAHM for 7 years now. I also have 2 boys - 7 & 4. At least you get to teach pilates (and get exercise at the same time!). The glory of this business is you can keep it as small or large as you want, and do it when you want to. Just don't give up the pilates or you'll get round in the tummy like me!
eriksmom- Believe me, I won't give up the pilates! That's why I teach, because if I didn't, I'd never do it on my own! BTW, I love, love, love your New Year's Eve wedding cake in your photos. That is gorgeous!
