I know this is a hot topic for its popularity and trying to find a good tasty icing for cookies...
I don't like Royal Icing.... However, Wilton does gives another recipe that I used and found VERY good on their Yearbook 2004 where they talked a lot about cookies...
I loved the recipe and wanted to mention it just in case you don't want to use Royal Icing...
In case you don't have the book, here it is.
This recipe again is from Wilton's Yearbook 2004.
Poured Cookie Icing
Dries shiny, hard finish. Great for outline and fill with tip 2 and 3. Thin with light corn syrup to fill in the cookie.
1 cup of sifted confect sugar
2 teaspoons of milk
2 teaspoons of light corn syrup
Place sugar and milk in bowl. Stir until mixed thoroughly. Add corn syrup and mix well.
Stupid question but does it dry real soft?? Think frosted cookies can be put in cookie bags?

No, not really. It is soft, but not sooo soft that you can't stack them together. I used it more than twice last year and loved it. I made very simple decoration and filled cookies completely and dries very nice and fast.... And it is TASTY!!!!
