I want to have a couple of edible images made but I am not sure how to go about it. Do I just take a picture of what I want to my local grocery store and ask if they will make it for me? Or do I do a BCT. I have no idea how to make one of those. Are they hard?

You could do either. I did my first BCT this past weekend. It was of Winnie the Pooh so it was really easy. The picture did not have too many details. If the picture you want to use is not too detailed and fairly easy to outline and then color in, I would try the BCT.
