I am trying to make a 'holly tree' as seen on the last page of my gumpaste cutter 'workbook' that came w/the set. Last night I made the holly leaves, but had a lot of difficulty attatching the leaves to the wires w/out the holly leaves coming apart...now I have 80 or so holly leaves & I want to attatch them somehow to the wires to insert in the styrofoam cone that will be the 'tree'. Maybe I made my gumpaste too thin? Any tips for attatching the leaves to the wires now that they're dry? Or should I make more leaves & try again directly on the wire?
ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!! icon_smile.gif I have to deliver this tomorrow afternoon!!!!

I think you can still try to make little sausage rolls from gumpaste and glue them under the leaf. So you can insert the wire in there. The roll just have to be half as long as the leaf and must just be thick enough to place the wire inside. Don´t forget to put on a little bit of glue to the wire and maybe try to push the gumpast gently when the wire is in place.

You can mix equal parts of water and powdered egg whites for glue...or water and gumpaste mixed to a soupy mixture. I guess if you are positive that it won't be eaten you could use regular glue, but I'd be afraid to do that, just in case!

I would use sugar glue.

I just had the idea of using royal icing instead of the sausage - just pipe a string of green icing on the back and push the wire into it and leave it to dry. Haven´t tried that jet but I think it will work.

thank you soooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!! I actually made royal icing in green just in case-so i will try that too. Looks like the gumpaste sausages on teh back w/wire inserted are working well, but I'm going to do a royal one too- see what works best-
THANK YOU!!!!! for all of your suggestions! My husband didn't believe me that I would get so much help so fast........thank you guys!!
