Hi- I'm not sure if this is what you have in mind. But try putting a Rolo candy on a pretzel and melt it in the oven at 350 for a few minutes (make sure you keep an eye on it). These are great! and not a lot of fuss. They look great if you stick a pecan half in the middle also. Just an idea....

I buy the 5lb. blocks of Nestle Caramel. Then I just break a piece off & roll it into a long piece, press onto the pretzel. Freeze it a bit, then dip in chocolate.

I would melt the caramel, can use either the bulk block, or the wrapped caramel...or make your own caramel. Anyhow, melt caramel, dip the pretzel, if using stick pretzels dip 3/4 of pretzel, lay on wax paper until it has set, then dip in chocolate, place on wax paper. you can place in fridge to set up the choc. and this should give you a nice sheen. Hope this helps.

I melt the carmel first and then dip.

I melt my caramel in a small slow cooker keeps it warm. (I did over 300 of these at Christmas). I just dipped or spooned over the caramel, put on wax paper to set and then dipped in candy melts that were in another small slow cooker.
I shouldn't have made so many though, I ate a lot icon_redface.gif

Hi Tammy, may I ask... what kind of caramel do you use?? Sound soo good!!

Oh.. and just wanted to share with you... about 2 weeks ago I was putting my 4 year old to bed and we always say a prayer before he goes to sleep, so I had my laptop with me and of course, CC on the screen and I can´t remember what thread but you had posted on it, so we could see that sweet baby in your avatar, and my son, while he was "thanking Jesus" for everything (oh, yeah, he lists everything every night) he also said "and thank you for the cake baby" meaning your baby... so for the last 2 weeks everytime he prays at night he has been including the "cake baby" in his prayers.

Sorry to hijak the thread but now that I see your avatar again, just thought I would share...

nefgaby: that is way too sweet! That completely melted my heart! The cake baby just too cute. You can tell him the baby's name is Lane if you'd like but cake baby is so cute. I might have even named him that had I been cake decorating before he was born LOL!

I just use the kraft caramels and follow the recipe on the bag for making them, I think you just add some cream to them. Can't exactly remember how much...I could find out for you if you'd like.

Can you tell your son thanks for praying for Lane...

I love turtle pretzels and make alot of them at the holidays. I make my own caramel and if you want the recipe-just let me know- but if I am in a hurry I will use the Kraft caramels (I hate unwrapping all those squares) and melt them in the microwave and add some canned condensed milk to thin it some. I find it is easier to spread and dip that way. Then I place on parchment paper to cool and set up, then I dip in choc and roll in chopped pecans--yummy

We made these with our Girl Scout troop last Christmas and they turned out great. We bought a brick of carmel from a local cake shop and rolled a long strip. Then wrapped it around the pretzel and dipped in melted chocolate that was in a crockpot. YUMMY! icon_biggrin.gif
