I just wanted to post a picture of my first-ever decorated cookies! I would never have thought of attempting this if it weren't for all of the great inspiration and information available on this board. I decided to start with something simple. I still have a LONG way to go, but I learned a lot, and I'm already looking forward to making more sometime! I made a dozen of each shape, half chocolate and half regular.

Thanks to everyone for all their encouragement!
LL

You did a really good job. My first cookies didn't turn out that good and I haven't attempted them again.

I did use royal, I used Antonia74's recipe from this site titled "Royal Icing for Decorated Cookies". It was really easy and turned out PERFECT. I love it.

Sorry, I don't have any suggestions for other icings.

..how about trying fondant to cover your cookies! I've seen that done before and it looks great as well!

Toba's Glace Icing is DELICIOUS and simple to make. I used the plastic squeeze bottles to decorate and it was simple.

I LOVE them. They turned out great!! Really good!

I was all set to go to make similar cookies for the kids halloween parties tomorrow, then the room mom decides to make cookie decorating one of their stations, so just wants me to bake the cookies. PHEW!

I'm sure who ever you made those for are gonna love them. Did you use bags or did you try the bottle method?
