This is an awesome butter cake. It is a dense cake, great for stacking. It tastes GREAT with Indydebi’s BC. I never make this cake without getting compliments.
Woodruffbn’s Old Fashioned Butter Cake
- 2 sticks salted butter 2 c. self rising flour
- 1 ¾ c. sugar 2 tsp. almond flavoring
- 5 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
- Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs, one at a time and beat well. Add flour and flavorings. Pour into pan sprayed with Baker’s Joy. Heat oven to 350. When I use 8 inch round pan it takes 32 mins. 6 inch takes 28.
I was very disappointed in this cake. The taste was great, but the texture was dry and hard. I couldn't even serve it.
I agree, it was a good taste, but the texture was as if it had sat there a couple days. Probably not going to be using this recipe until I tweak it a little to be more moist.
I too was disappointed with this recipe, it does taste great but the whole cake sunk after I took it out of the oven. The outer edges were dry and crumbling. I had to start over with another recipe.
